Biography

Edgar Chahine’s art represents an unique blend of intuitive observation with the fanciful elegance of the Belle Époque. Edgar Chahine was a born portrait artist who, like his immediate contemporaries Jacques Joseph Tissot and Paul-César Helleu, was captivated by feminine beauty. Women from all walks of life populated his view of “la vie Parisienne”, summing up the richly varied style of the Belle Époque.
