Original James Clarke Hook etching.

Very good, strong impression, from the only published edition, as issued by the Etching Club in 1857.

James Clarke Hook’s highly finished etchings are some of the finest examples of popular Victorian art to emerge from the Etching Club. The Fisherman’s “Good Night” demonstrates perfectly J.C.Hook’s marvellous period style and is one of the relatively few original etchings to have been produced by this highly talented artist.

On cream chine appliqué on original warm white wove backing sheet, with full margins, as issued. One or two isolated foxing spots in outer margins only, otherwise very fine original condition. Image surface excellent.
