Original Paul Gauguin etching and aquatint with engraving.

Strong impression printed from the cancelled plate. One of approximately 79 impressions printed from the cancelled plate in 1919 – of these, 60 were included in de-luxe copies of H. Floury’s Charles Maurice Gauguin issued in Paris in 1919.

An interesting impression of this fascinating subject, inspired by Stephane Mallarmé’s translation of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe.

In the subsequent state of the plate, an attempt was made to eliminate the cancellation lines and restore the plate.

On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition.
