Vallon des Auffes, Marseillies is one of L.G. Brammer's earliest etchings, dating from his time in southern France in 1930-31. After attending the Royal College of Art School of Painting from 1926 to 1929, Leonard Brammer joined the School of Engraving and went on to win the travelling scholarship for engraving in 1930. This print is one of a very few French subjects (only two are listed in Fine Prints of the Year) which resulted from his travels.

On cream wove paper with full margins. Four neatly scored incision lines in margin and image. Mild time tone in outer margins. The price of this rare early work by Brammer takes these condition factors into account.
