Original etching by Leonard Brammer.

Outstanding signed proof impression from the only edition.

To many this work stands out as the finest of all of Brammer’s brilliant original etchings depicting the ‘Five Towns’. Here, Brammer has become the Griggs of industrial England, an artist recording the spirit of a passing architectural glory so very different in its nature to that of the ecclesiastical world of Griggs, but still interpreted with a feeling of deep love, loss and sorrow. Yet even in this apparently sombre scene, characters who anticipate Lowry’s mature works breathe life into this depiction of the passing greatness of industry.

On cream laid paper, with full margins and deckle edge. Generally very fine original condition. Image surface excellent.
