Original Francis Dodd drypoint.

Very good impression from the only edition of 52 signed proofs.

Waterloo Place is the most elaborate of Francis Dodd’s early London plates made prior to the First World War. Despite a total recorded printing of 52 proofs, this splendid architectural work is rarely encountered today – it is, without doubt, one of Francis Dodd’s finest plates.

The view shows the memorial to the Crimean War at the centre of the image; beyond lies Lower Regent Street with the buildings at Piccadilly Circus in the distance.

On simile Japan paper with margins, as issued. Some minor cockling and slight imperfections; residue of old tape at edges of sheet, otherwise generally good original condition.
