Original Eleanor Hughes etching with ink and chalk alterations.

Unique working proof impression amended by Eleanor Hughes with white chalk and black ink to indicate the intended alterations to the tree nearest to the house chimney just right of centre and to the foreground vegetation. In this state the stonework of the end wall of the main house has been much amended and the skyline of the hills has been changed. Eleanor Hughes used this impression as a guide proof and the extreme outer corners of the sheet have pinholes where it was once attached to the artist’s studio tackboard.

On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Lefthand platemark weak due to pressure of printing; generally good original condition for a proof of this nature.
