Original Robin Tanner etching.

Very good, strong impression with excellent contrast. Signed by the artist in pencil; from the edition issued in 1977.

Robin Tanner’s wonderful etching of Full Moon encapsulates the idyllic vision of rural England so loved by Samuel Palmer and The Ancients. One of Tanner's best known etched works, it ranks amongst the great Romantic images of British original printmaking.

Robin Tanner was the last of the generation of English etchers to continue the traditions of Samuel Palmer, Graham Sutherland and F.L.M. Griggs. Tanner celebrated the beauty of the English countryside and its rustic settings in an idyllic pastoral manner unique in his time. His is the supremely crafted plate, developed through elaborate care and attention, and worked with a dense web of etched lines through which the light of the paper is allowed to sparkle. The density of this etched web is used to control the varying tones and create the final image.

On cream wove paper with margins. Excellent original condition.
