Very good impression, printed with considerable plate tone. From the only published edition of 50 signed proofs, issued in 1919.
The Flowered Toque is one of three etched studies of the same young woman which August John made in about 1913-14, shortly before the outbreak of the First World War. These plates remained unpublished until after the War was over, when they were issued by the Chenil Gallery in November 1919, in only one edition of 50 signed proofs.
On pale cream laid paper, watermarked GC, with full margins and deckle edge. One expert repair in outer left margin, otherwise excellent condition. Image surface excellent.
