The Towy at Carmarthen is one of a small group of naturalistic landscapes which James McBey made upon his return from his first extended trip to Spain. These quiet landscape views appear to be exercises in etching technique in the vein of the works of Sir Francis Seymour Haden, the father figure of the British Etching Revival. This particular work is now scarce due to the comparatively small edition.

On cream laid paper, with full margins and deckle edge. Pronounced time tone within mat window area, otherwise very good original condition.
