Original Marius Bauer etching.

Very good impression from the only edition of 100 signed proofs.

A Brazier at Stamboul is one of Marius Bauer’s earlier etched works, derived from his first trip to the land of the Arabian Nights when he travelled only as far as Constantinople, now known as Istanbul (or Stamboul). The Impressionistic nature of this early work conveys the rapid dexterity with which Marius Bauer recorded his first observations of the people and everyday life throughout the orient; yet, these vivacious early etchings were in fact distilled from his numerous sketches upon his return to Holland. Few impressions were printed initially, the remainder of the edition of 100 only being completed a few years later, once Marius Bauer’s fame had become established.

On cream laid with full margins and deckle edge. Time toned within mat window area and slight marginal foxing. Mat stained verso, otherwise genenrally very good original condition.
