Original Edmund Blampied lithograph.

Very good proof impression inscribed “To Mrs.Haworth E.Blampied March/1923”. Scarce.

With the exception of his caricature images of dogs, the lithographs of Edmund Blampied are universally scarce. Those which were published were issued generally in only very small editions and many remained unpublished. This particular original lithograph was first discussed by Malcolm Salaman in the Print Collector’s Quarterly of 1932, where he states “Under a Paris Bridge, sand carts stayed at their customary job of clearing away the sand hills, with the men digging, was most delicately drawn with the artist’s personal touch on the stone” (p.310). The work was illustrated on page 305 of the same article.

On heavy cream wove paper with margins. Generally very good original condition.
