One of Theodore Roussel’s most poetic visions, and one of his rare imaginary subjects. T.C.Roussel was always keen to experiment with new techniques, or to adapt and combine others to produce differing and novel results. In this print he has combined a number of techniques to produce an innovative and highly atmospheric effect. There is a romantic mystery to this image which places it amongst his masterpieces.

Theodore Casimir Roussel was much influenced by Whistler in his printmaking and took to trimming his proofs to the platemark, leaving a tab for the signature, in the Master’s manner. This excellent proof impression has been signed in pencil on the tab accordingly. On firm wove paper in very fine original condition.
