Original John Hall Thorpe woodcut, printed in colours.

Very good, bright impression with fresh, unfaded colours. Signed proof, printed in yellow, orange, pale green, dark green, grey, white, black, and blue inks.

Cowslips is an excellent example of the imagery for which John Hall Thorpe became best known. It was this style of simple design of vases of flowers, produced for the specific purpose of home decoration, which was to prove the most commercially successful of all of his works.

On firm cream wove paper, signed on the image in yellow crayon and prepared by the artist with narrow margins around the image on all sides. Mottled timetone verso only, otherwise very good original condition.
