Charles William Taylor had worked as a commercial engraver for thirteen years before he first turned to art. This background is clearly apparent in his choice of technique when working on metal plates – namely, line engraving, either pure or used in combination with etching. In this respect C.W.Taylor was one of the early protagionists in the modern revival of line engraving in England. His exceptionally fine technique and exquisite craftsmanship has created the sense of recession throughout the image of Before Burford to marvellous effect.

On cream laid paper with full margins and deckle edge. Generally very good original condition.
