Original D.Y. Cameron etching with drypoint.
Outstanding signed proof impression in Rinder’s 2nd state (of five), before the plate was cut down. An exceptionally rich example, the fresh drypoint burr printing to create deep velvety blacks.
Sir David Young Cameron favoured especially long, tall plates of this nature for his depictions of church doorways and interiors. In this remarkable etched study of the North Porch of the cathedral at Harfleur the artist has managed to capture the effect of reflections from the multiple panes of stained glass which form the inner side of the windows on the southern wall of the cathedral.
On cream wove paper with margins. |
