A Norfolk Village is one of two etched plates which James McBey made of Wells-on-Sea, on the northern coast of Norfolk. However, its companion plate, entitled Wells-on-Sea, was printed in only one trial proof impression and the plate, mislaid during the war, has never been found. This was one of the last plates which McBey made before beginning his war service in January, 1916.
On fine white laid paper, with full margins and deckle edge. Excellent condition. |
