Very fine presentation proof impression inscribed by the artist in pencil on the support sheet “To Townly Dowdry Esqr. DCR”.
This delicately handled work by D.C.Read anticipates the etchings and drypoints of Alphonse Legros, a masterly printmaker who was to exhibit considerable influence upon the British Etching Revival nearly half a century later.
On cream wove paper, with narrow margins. Tipped at corners to original backing sheet, as prepared by the artist himself. Very fine original condition. |
