Original Paul Huet lithograph.

Excellent impression in the second state of three, as issued by Charles Motte for the series Paysages par Paul Huet, 1829-30.

Les Ormeaux is an especially fine example of Paul Huet’s truly naturalistic landscape lithographs. Paul Huet’s works of this order required no narrative content but sought instead to capture the effects of a bright, breezy day in the countyside of France. In particular, it is Paul Huet’s handling of active skies and of the shifting effects of light which makes his works stand apart.

Beautiful early printing, with the blindstamp of Charles Motte in the lower margin of the sheet. On off-white China paper applied to original warm white wove of backing sheet, with margins. Very fine original condition.
