Original Eleanor Hughes etching.

Exceptionally strong proof impression from the artist’s own personal collection. Signed with the artist’s stamped signature.

The disused tin mines which punctuate the wild open landscapes of Cornwall have a solitary drama all of their own. In this striking image, the abandoned building with its single tall chimney stands as a forlorn monument to a once proud industrial past. All of Eleanor Hughes’ etchings are concerned with the area where she lived; however, rather than being mundane topographical views they are strange, incidental studies of the distinctive landscapes of the West Country.

On cream laid paper, watermarked F J Head & Co, with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition.
