Very good impression from the edition of 200 signed proofs, as published by the Ministry of Information in Building Ships. The Great War: Britain's Efforts and Ideals.
Bone’s early training as an architect is exploited here to the full. He has achieved an impressive sense of scale and perspective whilst balancing his composition using the extraordinary lattice created by the elements essential to the working of an industrious wartime shipyard.
On smooth cream Japan-style paper full margins and deckle edge, as issued. Evidence of previous mounting verso. Traces of soft creasing and very mild discolouration at outer edges of sheet, otherwise very good original condition. |
