Very fine impression from the only edition of 75 signed and numbered proofs.
Haybarn and Lock was to be one of George Mackley's last wood engravings, for it was later in this year (1969) that Mackley suffered his debilitating stroke. Haybarn and Lock represents the culmination of experience gained through a lifetime of wood engraving and is one of the splendid group of Dutch views which George Mackley made during his final decade of engraving.
On smooth cream wove Basingwerk Parchment paper with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition. |
