Excellent signed proof from the edition of only 10 impressions printed on vellum-style ‘parchment’, with Gustave Pellet’s red monogram stamp (Lugt 1193).
This elegant portrait of a young girl, or ‘gosseline’ (a term which translates roughly to ‘a kid’ or 'a brat' in English) is one of eighteen original prints which Louis Legrand made for a projected publication of a work called Les Soupeuses by H. Rebell. Only a few first state proofs and this parchment edition of ten signed proof impressions (out of a projected edition of 25) were printed of this fine original work by Louis Legrand. Rebell's projected book was not published.
On vellum-style ‘parchment’, with full margins. Very fine original condition. |
