Original Eleanor Hughes etching.
Trial proof impression. Eleanor Hughes used this impression as a guide proof and the extreme outer corners of the sheet have pinholes where it was once attached to the artist’s studio tackboard.
Signed with the artist’s signature stamp. From the artist’s own personal collection.
This plate depicts exactly the same view as the matching drypoint; however, in this etched version the image has been drawn in reverse on the plate in order to show the topographically correct view when printed, as in the process of printed the image is effectively reversed.
It has been suggested that this view shows Avalon House in South Place, Penzance; however, this is not the case.
On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Pinholes at extreme corners of sheet, generally very fine original condition for a working proof of this nature. |
