This large plate is one of Hughes’ few architectural etchings and is a rare example of the her using the technique of softground etching – this technique allows the artist the freedom of drawing her design in pencil on paper applied to a prepared plate, rather than with an etching needle through the etching ground.
On cream laid F.J.Head & Co paper with full margins and deckle edge. Very good original condition. |
