On the opposite side of the bay from Newlyn and Penzance in Cornwall, St. Michael’s Mount is an island which is connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway that can only be crossed at low tide. It is crowned by a medieval church and a castle which is still the ancestral home of the St.Aubyn family. Eleanor Hughes made a number of etchings and drypoints of this picturesque island seen from the mainland.

On cream laid paper, watermarked England, with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition.
