Superb impression with very rich drypoint burr. From the only edition of 76 signed and numbered proofs. James McBey was scrupulous in printing all of his own proof impressions, for he regarded the inking, wiping and printing of his plates as part of the creative process in preparing an original printed work.
James McBey made numerous trips to Spain, often returning for long stays. This view of Gerona, in Catalonia, seen from across the river, is typical of his Sanish work.
On cream laid paper, with full margins. Some toning verso; one tiny thin spot in sheet, otherwise generally very good original condition. |
