Superb, signed proof impression of this rare original lithograph. A particularly strong impression of this unusually large work.

Randolphe Schwabe’s work became increasingly figurative as the years went by. There is a feeling of sculpturesque, monumental solidity to this expressive modern depiction of a young woman peeling potatoes. This work reflects the influence of Picasso’s early figurative paintings and points in the direction which was to be taken by the sculptor and printmaker Henry Moore – it is a far cry from the highly traditional topographical etchings of Randolphe Schwabe’s early work.

On tissue-style simile Japan paper, with full margins and deckle edge. Very good condition.
