Very fine impression from the only edition of 30 signed proofs. Scarce.
Dedicated in the plate to “C.G.R.”, this etching shows a view at Glen Maye on the Isle of Man. The picturesque wooded Glen itself is well known for its impressive waterfall and at the time of J.B.Souter’s etching was the site of a small mining business.
Provenance: Collection of Dr.W.S. Coutts.
On cream laid paper, with full margins and deckle edge. Mat line in outer margin. Reverse of sheet browned at upper edge in margin, otherwise very good original condition. Image surface, excellent. |
