Original Sybil Andrews linocut.

Excellent impression with strong, even black inking. From the only edition of 25 signed and numbered proofs.

This scarce small work by Sybil Andrews is one of a number of religious subjects which the artist made throughout her career using the art of linocut established at the Grosvenor School of Modern Art. One of the pioneers of the linocut, Sybil Andrews had joined Iain Macnab in setting up the Grosvenor School in 1925 and it was here, together with Claude Flight and Cyril Power, that she explored and developed the striking new style of printing from linocuts. This particular linocut was designed by the artist for the Faithcraft Company of London.

On fine Mulberry-style tissue with margins as prepared by the artist. Very fine original condition.
