Particularly fine impression from the only published edition of 76 signed proofs in the completed state of the plate (89 in all). The plate is known to have been destroyed.
The model for this superb portrait was Anaïs Brockhurst, the artist’s first wife. The extraordinary and minute perfection of Brockhurst’s etching technique is shown here in its most elaborate detail. One of his finest plates, this subject has been etched with the supreme craftsmanship of a master printmaker.
On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Excellent original condition. |
