Very fine signed proof impression. A proof aside from the only published edition, inscribed in ink by the artist with the name “McConnachie”.
Katharine Cameron began to pursue original etching in earnest from around 1911 onwards and she became best known for her highly stylised naturalistic studies of flowers with attendant butterflies and bees. This accomplished etching of a young hedgehog named McConnachie is one of her few pure wildlife studies of an animal.
On cream laid paper with full margins. One minor crease, otherwise very good condition. |
