Original Charles Chaplin etching with aquatint.
Excellent signed proof impression of this atmospheric etched study of trees in winter. This etching was Charles Chaplin’s exhibition piece at the Royal Academy of Arts in 1940.
Trees are the principal subject of almost all of Charles Chaplin’s printed works. In this stark yet beautiful image, Chaplin has chosen to depict their forms protruding from the blanket of snow against the descending gloom of a winter evening filled with the prospect of further snow.
Provenance: Collection of Norman B. Blackman, Esq. – purchased directly from the artist.
On firm cream wove paper with margins. Mat line in outer margins, otherwise generally very good original condition. |
