Original Graham Clilverd drypoint.
Excellent, rich impression with fresh drypoint burr. Signed proof from the only edition.
As Gipsies demonstrates admirably, Graham Clilverd was especially able when it came to introducing figures with true character to his drypoints; unlike many of his contemporaries, he did not merely employ indistinct figures as compositional devices. Yet, despite the precision with which his characters were engraved with the drypoint needle, this image displays the lively freedom which characterises his finest works.
On cream wove paper with margins, as issued, faint time tone in outer margins, otherwise very fine original condition. Image surface excellent. |
