Isabel de Bohun Lockyer was one of the few artists outside the Grosvenor School to use linocut for colour printmaking in England at this time. Printing in water-based inks, her linocuts have the appearance of colour woodcuts. She exhibited regularly with the Society of Painter-Gravers in Colour from 1925 to 1938 and showed her work alongside that of Claude Flight at his annual exhibitions during the 1930’s.

Wembury church is on Devon’s southern coastline overlooking Wembury Bay, an area noted for its natural beauty. The strong colours used in this particular linocut make it one of the most striking of Isabel de Bohun Lockyer's few English views.

On simile Japan paper with full margins. Generally very good original condition.
