Very good signed proof impression with fresh, unfaded colours. From the only edition of 100 signed proofs.
One of A.W. Seaby’s finest images, this masterly colour woodcut rivals the colour woodblock prints of the Japanese masters. Seaby considered this to be his finest composition and he repeated the image in reverse on a second series of blocks.
On simile Japan paper with margins, as issued. Traces of previous tape in outer margins of sheet. Slight rubbing at a lower edge of image, otherwise very good condition. |
