Superb signed proof impression with strong line. One of only 75 signed proofs, printed prior to the unsigned edition. (The zinc plate for this etching is known to have been destroyed).
La Muse Accoudée is amongst the masterpieces of Albert Besnard’s early etched work. Produced soon after his return to Paris from England, this important etching was the first to show the full flowering of emotive power which Besnard achieved in his plates of this period. This rich proof impression is a truly outstanding example of one of Albert Besnard’s most intense early etchings.
On off-white laid paper with full margins and deckle edge. Very good original condition. Image surface excellent. |
