Original Vernon Hill etching.
Artist’s trial proof impression of this very rare etching. Excellent impression printed under considerable pressure to produce pronounced etched line.
The Crossing is characteristic of Vernon Hill’s etched work with its symbolic implication of uncertainty in the face of decision. This distinctive etching, with its strange ethereal background, suggests the crossroads of life itself. It is as though the shrouded figure is at a turning point in her life when whichever direction she chooses will represent an irreversible step of the greatest import, determining the course of her future forever.
On cream laid paper, watermarked J C A France, with full margins and deckle edge. Excellent original condition. |
