Original Francis Seymour Haden etching with drypoint.
Very fine, clear impression of the completed image, as issued in Francis Seymour Haden’s first publication, Études à l’eau-forte.
This etching was used as the headpiece for the Introduction to the Études – Haden prepared the impressions for this issue by trimming the sheets along the platemark at the sides and within two borderlines which he scored into the plate running horizontally, 10 mm from both top and bottom of the plate. Trimming the sheet in this fashion caused all but the very top of the signature to be removed. This impression has been prepared by the artist in precisely the manner described.
On fine laid paper. Upper corner tips of sheet expertly repaired, otherwise very fine condition. |
