Excellent impression, beautifully inked to capture the effect of light passing through the elaborate stained glass windows at the far end of the cathedral. From the only edition of 100 proofs.

Herbert Gordon Warlow’s pre-occupation with magnificent architecture was not confined to the exterior of great buildings, as is shown by this exceptional etching of the interior of Lincoln Cathedral. The precision of H.G.Warlow's incredibly fine etching technique is admirably suited to the intricate detail of his subject matter in this work. Indeed, the atmosphere of diffused light in this small etching has been achieved with a consummate skill which places H.G.Warlow amongst the finest etchers of his time.

On pale cream laid paper, watermarked David Strang, with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition. Image surface excellent.
