Rich impression with strong, fresh drypoint burr. One of only about 30 signed proof impressions printed from the completed plate.

A particularly beautiful impression of this unusual allegorical work. The Fisherman presents one of the finest of William Strang’s classical nude groups and demonstrates clearly the artist’s outstanding ability with the drypoint needle. It is an exceptionally decorative composition for the often severe and uncompromising William Strang.

On fine simile-Japan paper with full margins. One or two expert repairs to reverse of sheet, otherwise very fine condition.
