Very fine signed proof impression from the only edition, as issued by the Print Collectors’ Club in 1946.

Sara Sproule’s first etchings date from the early 1940’s when she was studying printmaking techniques under Malcolm Osborne and Robert Austin at the Engraving School of the Royal College of Art. At that time the Royal College had been evacuated to Ambleside in Cumbria due to the war. Having been selected as one of the presentation plates for members of the Print Collectors’ Club for the year 1946, Sudden Shower is probably the best known of her etched works.

On cream laid paper with full margins and deckle edge. Mild discolouration in outer margins verso only, otherwise very good original condition.
