Percival Gaskell’s aquatints of vast open skies over distant highland landscapes or glittering expanses of water are some of his finest achievements in the medium. Even in this quiet morning landscape, there is a sense of restrained drama as the sky becomes illuminated by the first rays of the rising sun. Rarely have the effects of nature been more beautifully realised than in this fine aquatint.
On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition. Image surface excellent. |
