Francis Sydney Unwin moved to London when young and developed a lasting love of the city whose buildings were to provide the subjects of some of his finest etched works. A highly temperamental individual, F.S.Unwin would occassionally destroy large sections of his work; as a consequence, much of his work is now scarce. His moods were much affected by his persistent ill health, as he suffered from tuberculosis for many years – ultimately, his career was cut short by his death at the age of 40 from consumption. [more]
