Original Johnstone Baird drypoint.
Excellent signed proof impression of this splendid view of the heart of Edinburgh.
The Scottish etcher and engraver Johnstone Baird began exhibiting landscapes and architectural subjects at the Royal Scottish Academy from 1910 and during the First World War he served as an architect with the Admiralty. His architectural experience is clearly apparent in the finest of his printed works, such as this impressive view of central Edinburgh. Baird employed the tall vertical format of this drypoint to great effect in a number of his views of the Scottish capital.
On cream laid paper with margins. Excellent original condition. |
