Hilary Paynter is one of the leading figures of the talented group of wood engravers to emerge from Portsmouth between 1955 and 1964. In this original wood engraving Hilary Paynter has contrasted the natural forms of plants carrying wind-bourne seeds against the distant silhouette of a windmill.
On warm white simile Japan paper with margins. Faintest suggestion of time tone, otherwise very fine original condition. |
