Original F.L.Griggs etching.

Unique touched proof impression with pencil alterations, inscribed by F.L. Griggs “Touched on lefthand trees” and with pecil arrows in the margins indicating the areas of additional touched work. Brilliant proof impression in Comstock’s 5th state (of eight).

A particularly beautiful impression printed by the artist himself, inscribed in ink verso "D.H.P." (Dover’s House Press). Originally entitled Summer Garland, Griggs re-named this plate A Sussex Landscape for the Royal Academy exhibition before changing its title to Launds, as it is now known. The most mellow of all Griggs’s etched works, Launds stands out for the absence of the sombre religious sentiment which pervades so many of his plates.

On antique laid paper with wide margins. Mat line in outer margins, otherwise very fine original condition.
