Original Edmund Blampied drypoint.
Excellent impression with fresh drypoint burr (Appleby states erroneously that this plate is an etching – it is a drypoint); signed proof as issued by the Print Collectors Club in the only published edition.
Throughout his life, Edmund Blampied retained a remarkable ability to capture every attitude of the horse, from memory, with the facile touch of his drypoint needle. Farm Horse was the first plate which Edmund Blampied had made for nearly twenty years, having ceased printmaking at the beginning of the Second World War – it displays all of the vivacity of his youthful works and is undoubtedly the finest of his later plates.
On cream laid paper F J Head paper with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition. |
