Excellent signed proof impression with particularly strong contrast.
As no comprehensive catalogue of the printed works of Edward Bouverie-Hoyton exists, it is unclear whether this subject should be titled Thermae of Caracalla, No.3 or whether it is an early state of Thermae of Caracalla, No.2.
On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Mild mat line in outer margins, otherwise very fine original condition. Image surface excellent. |
