Very fine impression from the edition of 50 signed proofs.
This beautifully observed work is typical of Frank Short’s fine etched studies made in and around the harbours and waterways of Great Britain and the low countries. Short has employed lines of greatly varying strength throughout this etching. The exceptionally fine lines which he has used to define parts of the rigging and other small details have required the plate to be heavily inked with much residual plate tone – if the plate were to be clean wiped, there would always be a danger of losing the detail of these fine lines.
On cream laid paper with full margins. Defect at extreme top corner of sheet in outer margin, otherwise generally very good original condition. |
